It's sometimes easy to forget just what a young country America is, and how recent was its civil war. Here's one reminder. This is a clip from a 1956 game show called I've Got a Secret, in which the guest's secret is...he witnessed Abraham Lincoln's assassination.
That is fantastic. Actually, one of my favourites of these kinds of stories is W.R. Burnett's tale of how Josie Earp, Wyatt's widow, marched up to the Universal Studios' gates to try to shut down production on Law And Order, the first pic to deal with the gunfight at the OK Corral. She didn't want her husband defamed, so Burnett, the writer, was sent out there to calm her down.
