An angle that so far has only been hinted at is how the expenses revelations changed the once-close relationship between MPs and the Press. After being attacked for months in the Press (and then the courts), the sympathy that Westminster might have had for journalists (at least in the general if not the NI particular) is much diluted.

Oh yes. Nobody is entirely rational, and Murdoch is motivated by a mixture of emotion and calculation. You have to be, to be that driven.
