From a perceptive if somewhat depressing report on Obama's image:
(A) new poll by the Pew Research Center finds a substantial rise in the percentage of Americans who believe, incorrectly, that Mr. Obama is Muslim. The president is Christian, but 18 percent now believe he is Muslim, up from 12 percent when he ran for the presidency and 11 percent after he was inaugurated.
And this is before you factor in the effect of the mosque nonsense. Gosh. If I were Obama I'd be very tempted to say "Oh, screw you losers," and resign.
Well quite.
I'd argue that the most important change to Obama's image in the last 18 months is the success of the wider Republican movement in portraying Obama as a loser (in the looser, playground sense), despite him having achieved more in under 2 years than Clinton achieved in 2 terms. I'm not sure that speaks to either men's ability as politicians much as my comparison suggests, though perhaps to the strategy vs tactics focus of the different administrations.
