David Brooks has written some slashing critiques of this White House's spending plans in recent weeks. But it's not every columnist that gets a call from (I presume) Rahm Emanuel and several other White House officials after he writes a critical column (well, I hope not anyway, I'm sure they've got a few other things to be getting on with). Brooks lays out their counterpoints fairly and in some detail, only sounding a sceptical note at the end.
In giving a vigorous defense of their spending plans, the "Obamatons" seek to puncture a narrative about this administration that both right and left have found it useful to promote in recent weeks: that Obama is setting out to roll back the Reagan revolution, and to instigate a new era of big government liberalism. Read the whole thing.
Nice Brooksometer graphic, Marbury! Let's see a Tom Friedman version one of these days, please, may we?
