As the GOP search for a hero to take on President Obama in four years' time begins, perhaps they should look for someone whose very identity signifies change for their party - just as Obama's did for the country this year. A woman, perhaps (Palin? Though many in the party will be looking for an ABP - Anyone-But-Palin - candidate). Or a candidate of colour (Bobby Jindal, governor of Louisiana, is admired by many). Or even a homosexual? Well, maybe they're not quite ready for that. The recently married Florida governor Charlie Crist apparently gave a good speech at the Republican Governors' Association yesterday, laying out a vision of a more inclusive party.
