If you're a Republican, that is.
The sections of the 60 Minutes interview in which Barack and Michelle take questions together display a couple who are absolutely at ease with each other and with the kind of personal banter that other political couples find hard to pull off in the public eye. It's powerful stuff (and was watched by a huge audience). The Obamas are relaxed, charming, warm and...normal. Note in particular the chat about Obama's dingy flat in Washington, and the way they talk about their daughters. Conservative columnist William Kristol got worried when Obama talked about the puppy; watching this interview he must have been having palpitations.
UPDATE: a review from Time's TV critic:
School, puppies and mother-in-law jokes: the First Family is launching a 1950s family sitcom before our eyes. And not to say that it's contrived, but the First Couple Elect pretty much have their Rob and Laura Petrie routine down, from Michelle's amiable needling to Barack's put-upon self-deflation.
