Me no speaky economics...but on the qualitative side of things: Geithner spent much of his childhood overseas and graduated from the International School of Bangkok before attending Dartmouth College. A personally informed, broad world view similar to Obama's will enhance the judgment calls Geithner makes. Such views are becoming increasingly valuable as the world rapidly, in the words of Tom Friedman, "flattens".


Looks like I've lost my bet that we'd have Robert Rubin as Treasury Secretary (again) and his son James Rubin as Secretary of State.
