Salon has an entertaining list of seven conventional wisdoms from the general election campaign that turned out to be flat wrong. They include such nostalgic classics as "Sarah Palin transforms this race" and "Hillary voters are lost to Obama".
The only one I'd seriously query is "Steve Schmidt is a genius". I don't actually recall him being portrayed as brilliant. He was just acclaimed for instilling a sense of order and aggression to McCain's campaign after he took over (following that sick-green background debacle). That remains true, even if he didn't turn out to be a strategic genius too.
