As sharp-eyed readers may have noticed I've changed the header of this blog to reflect a slightly broader scope. It will still be overwhelmingly focused on the US election. But I may throw in bits and pieces from elsewhere too, including British politics, which is just getting interesting again. To wit:
David Miliband's Guardian article and his subsequent media appearances have set him on a collision course with Gordon Brown. Plenty to chew on here. But for now let me just draw your attention to a sub-plot that has the dramatic potential of a mini-Greek drama: as Alice Miles notes today, the position of Ed Miliband in all this is fascinating. His mentor and father-figure is now pitted against his beloved brother. You can't get much more conflicted than that. Perhaps he needs a good sit down with Labour's psychotherapist-in-chief.
Ian,
I'm excited to read your thoughts on British politics. As a humble American anglophile, I'm always interested in what you are up to.
Also, as a law student, I encounter terms in old cases such as "councillor of the exchequer." It will be nice to get used to seeing these terms more often in my daily life, and hopefully gain a better understanding of how things progress across the Atlantic.
Whew. It took all my might not to say "across the pond" or anything like that!

Councillor of the exchequer, eh? Explain that one for us, Ian.
I'd stick to the US if I were you.
