This is "American Prayer", the latest musical paean to Barack Obama. I'm pretty sure it was funded, secretly, by the McCain campaign.
I mean, if you're trying to make the Obama-as-celebrity meme stick then this is perfect, isn't it? A pop video full of wealthy, surgically-enhanced celebrities (including a Scot, a woman from Devon, a gossip columnist, and a lesbian in a raincoat - oh wait, that's Barry Manilow) telling Americans to vote for Obama. The whole thing oozes with that sickly-smug stuff that celebrities emit, like spore, when they get together to "give back". The lyrics are the kind of thing even Chris Martin might reject as too vague ("how you jump will tell you how you're going to land"). The music could have been written by a piece of software and probably was. I mean really, what a godawful, execrable, repellent exercise in self-congratulation.
Maybe it will grow on me.
Did you see Shawn Johnson's CND earrings? Maybe the logo means something else over here.

Oh, Gawd, I've got to hand it to Marbury. Even as I cringed in horror while watching this drivel, I couldn't help chuckling over your spot-on review of it. 'Lesbian in a raincoat', indeed! Tee hee.
