Ejoch, I know that George Meany disliked George McGovern, but Meany never actually endorsed Nixon in 1972 (according to Wikipedia). But the AFL-CIO's refusal to find common ground with the New Left, and vice versa, has meant that the Democratic Party has been lukewarm towards organized labor's agenda ever since. It's a shame, and I hope it will change one day.
