This ad, from 1972, is an attack on the Democratic presidential candidate of that year, George McGovern. It was made by a group calling themselves "Democrats For Nixon" (I wonder if they have reunions from time to time). It just goes to show that there is something about that number, and that argument:

Democrats for Nixon was quite a big thing I think- even the AFL CIO signef up? Or their boss did, at least.

Ejoch, I know that George Meany disliked George McGovern, but Meany never actually endorsed Nixon in 1972 (according to Wikipedia). But the AFL-CIO's refusal to find common ground with the New Left, and vice versa, has meant that the Democratic Party has been lukewarm towards organized labor's agenda ever since. It's a shame, and I hope it will change one day.
