Quite something:
Without wishing to make too much of this, it does indicate and convey that this is a president who is full of confidence, in election year. It's also a reminder of Obama's charm, which, though he exercises it sparingly, is powerful. Can you imagine Mitt Romney doing this? I'm not even sure I want to.
The media narrative is to lump Obama and Romney into the same "doesn't relate to people" box. It's true that Obama doesn't go out of his way to socialize with entrenched DC powers, who then report on his "aloofness."
But it's not hard to find pictures and videos how children and babies love Obama. Their reaction is instinctive, and rebuts media's claims otherwise.
Romney, on the other hand, is merely tolerated, even by his most ardent supporters. His biggest problem is lack of empathy, therefore lack of self-awareness. His advisors must know that the growing income inequity gap is going to be one of the big (if not biggest) general election battle, and yet haven't set a strategic course for him to follow on this emotional and explosive issue.
So far the Democrats have yet to unify to decry the outright lies generated by Republican officials and Fox News. I hope they get their act together soon.
