The worst thing for Obama about the whole lipstick episode? The footage of him making the remark. Not because of what he said. But how he looked: listless, fatigued, confused. (Also, the more I watch it, the more I think he was aware of the charge of that word...it's the way he raises his hand to cover his face, in an involuntary, almost child-like expression of embarrassment).
Not for the first time, I agree with Peggy Noonan. Obama needs to start sounding and looking sharper and more focused. In other words, put a suit on. And get a better script.
