West Wing fans will recognise this as Charlie Young, President Bartlett's go-to-guy or, to use the correct political vernacular, his 'body man'. Most major politicians have a body man (or in Hillary Clinton's case, a body woman). During a political campaign their job is to ensure that the candidate's personal needs are looked after, and that the frenetic round of handshakes, photo ops and conversations that make up every day on the trail go as smoothly as possible. It requires a person of unflappable calm, a talent for multi-tasking, and an intuitive sense of what their man or woman wants and needs in any given situation.
The New York Times today profiles Obama's body man, Reggie Love. It's a lovely story. From it, here's Obama's list of must-haves on the trail:
¶ Planters Trail Mix: Nuts, Seeds & Raisins
¶ Roasted almonds
¶ Pistachios
¶ Water
¶ Dentyne Ice
¶ Nicorette
¶ MET-Rx chocolate roasted peanut protein bars
¶ Vegetables, especially broccoli and spinach
¶ Handmade milk chocolates from Fran’s Chocolates in Seattle
Things he would rather avoid:
¶ Mayonnaise
¶ Salt and vinegar potato chips
¶ Asparagus (“if no other vegetables are available, he’ll eat it”)
¶ Soft drinks (he prefers water)

hate to be pedantic but the bottom bit of the list is his dislikes..iv been drinking the kool aid
