clinton's biggest mistake?

Tom Bevan points to something that has been overlooked in all the analyses of what Clinton got wrong: if her campaign had brought Reverend Wright to the world's attention back in December Obama might well have been dead in the water after Iowa.

Sure, but as has been pointed out elsewhere, at that point she didn't expect the entire African American community to turn against her, so burning her bridges with them would have been foolish. Likewise the problems with the party about being so negative - she had far more to lose at that point. Perhaps she should have realised how badly Iowa had injured her... but few of the post-New Hampshire commentators had any idea that Obama would emerge from Super Tuesday in the lead...

Good points Will. But couldn't Clinton's campaign have brought Rev. Wright's greatest hits to the attention of the mainstream media without getting publicly involved themselves? All it took was for someone to find the relevant video, post it on YouTube and/or tip off Fox News. I think it was just lazy/incompetent oppo research.
